President's Letter | November 2015

Dear SYTA Members,

November is the month during which many focus on what they are thankful for. I am so honored and thankful to be leading a board, staff and membership who are bright, talented, engaged and committed to the long-term growth of our association.

Just a few short weeks ago, the board of directors gathered in my hometown of Orlando, Florida. Our meeting was met with a commitment for shared excellence, and one of the highlights was the board’s renewed commitment to the SYTA Youth Foundation. Being able to give back to the industry we all love and thrive on is a unique part of being a SYTA member.

That same week, members gathered to discuss the SYTA 20th anniversary celebration. As an organization, we’ve accomplished so much in such a short time—and it's time to celebrate. The collective brainpower that was at work produced some wonderful ideas for the conference committee to review before deciding what they can implement. I can tell you this: The 2016 SYTA Conference is going to blow you away!

Efforts for SYTA Summit are well underway. The location will be spectacular, the education sessions informative and the networking fruitful, and more research findings will be revealed. If you’re not registered for Summit, please consider the opportunities it can provide personally and professionally. I hope to see you there.

Last, thank you to the members who participated in our recent Member Satisfaction Survey. While all the results have not been completed, I can tell you that we’re doing something right.

  • 90% of respondents are satisfied or extremely satisfied with SYTA.
  • 94% of respondents said they would refer a friend in the student travel business to SYTA.
  • 98% of respondents said they plan to renew their SYTA membership.
While member satisfaction is extremely high, this doesn’t mean that we won’t continue to improve, develop and strive for ongoing growth.

During this month of giving thanks, be sure to know that SYTA is better because of you. We’re thankful you are a part of our community.

Sincerely,
Terry Valentine
SYTA President
