SYTA Boot Camp

Friday, August 23 (9:30am - 12:00pm for suppliers OR 2:00 pm - 4:00pm for tour operators)
SYTA Boot Camp is a fun, interactive orientation and a series of educational workshops for those interested in learning more about the student and youth travel market. During Boot Camp you will receive an overview of what to expect during the conference as well as how to make the most of every networking opportunity.  It is open to all attendees, but targeted to new delegates and those working toward their CSTP certification.  Registration is required.

Active/Tour Operator Forum and Learning Session: Hotchkiss School Case

The recent Hotchkiss School verdict was for $41.7 million, but even more important than that, the court imposed an almost guarantor status upon the school to prevent virtually anything that could happen to a student while on one of its trips. The ramifications of the case are enormous and seriously put all schools, universities and indeed all other sponsors of travel in extreme risk. This special session will share the extreme steps schools and sponsoring institutions can take to attempt to protect themselves.

Government, School Boards and Industry: A Winning Coalition that Strengthens Your Business

California Legislation and School Board Policies
SYTA and a coalition of members and travel organizations have been working together to address California legislation directly impacting school board policies and our ability to do business in California. These issues often start in California and then “travel” across the country. Working together we can inform school boards and influence the interpretation of the regulations.

Immigration Reform and Changes to J-1 visas (Au Pairs, Work Study, Language)
Congress is considering new restrictions that will directly impact number of international students coming to the US on J-1 Visas. These programs represent the huge growth in international inbound students experienced by our members. A special session will be held on these issues.

International Café & Presentations
Learn how to maximize the potential for inbound and outbound student travel opportunities.
  Representatives from National Tourism Offices and international delegates will be available.
