Michael Palmer
SYTA Executive Director
Mr. Palmer is the Executive Director of the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA). SYTA is the professional trade association that represents the student and youth travel industry in Mexico, Canada and the United States. SYTA tour operator members account for $2.2 billion USD in travel. He also serves as the Executive Director of the SYTA Youth Foundation and is one of the co-founders of the Youth Tourism Consortium of Canada.
Mr. Palmer is recognized in the travel industry as one of the leading experts on the youth travel market. He has been a speaker at numerous travel and educational conferences. He has been a presenter at convention and visitor bureaus across North America and at the International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (IACVB) educational conference. Mr. Palmer presents the Student & Youth Market Outlook at the Travel Industry Association's annual Market Outlook Forum.
Mr. Palmer was formerly a co-owner of a major student tour company that provided annual travel to over 50,000 students and chaperones. As a tour operator he served on the initial Student Tour Operator Task force for the National Tour Association.
Mr. Palmer has a B.S. from Michigan State University and a M.B.A. from the University of South Florida.
